Crested Communications joined forces with GO Agency to pilot a program that we are calling GO-U! Members of GO were matched up with students from Crested Communications to serve as mentors and provide feedback and guidance on our client project.

Faculty Support Helped Caitlin Topping ’23 Find Her Voice
One of the ways she was able to apply her passion for communications, is by working at UHart’s student-run agency Crested Communications with Assistant Professor of Communication Sarah Miner. Students gain real-world experienced in Crested Communications by producing public relations, advertising, and branding campaigns for real clients in the greater Hartford area and beyond. “Learning more about LinkedIn from Professor Miner helped me understand how to promote myself for future employers,” says Caitlyn. She also credits the career preparation course that all College of Arts and Sciences students take with giving her a fresh prospective on her resume.

As a new housing-focused nonprofit gains a foothold in the capital city, a unique organization has had a hand in its efforts: Crested Communications, a student-run communications firm at the University of Hartford.

Communication Student Gains Real-World Experience Through Connecticut Public Radio Internship and Work in Student-Run Agency Crested Communications
The many real-world experiences Sara had as an undergraduate includes working at the student-run public relations agency Crested Communications with Assistant Professor of Communication Sarah Miner. “I learned about communication strategies and public relations through hands-on experience and real-client work.” She also credits Associate Professor Abe Hefter’s radio course with giving her the experience to complete an independent study project producing public service announcements for UHart’s radio station WWUH, and to be hired as an intern with Connecticut Public Radio.
